COBBLE HILL - Plans for a new hotel in Cobble Hill are struggling forward after they were shot down by community board members and residents.Local leaders are pushing for a meeting with the developer to discuss plans for a five-story, 100-room hotel on Atlantic Avenue. Some residents say a hotel will only add traffic to a notoriously congested area of town. However, others have taken a more optimistic view of the project, saying the hotel will open up an assortment of jobs for Brooklyn residents.Despite being voted down by the community board, plans may be permitted to move forward if the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals approves the zoning waivers. If approved, the hotel proposal will face a final review by the New York City Department of Buildings.
