Consumer Affairs cites 31 dealerships in probe

BROOKLYN - The city's Department of Consumers Affairs says 31 car dealerships throughout the city are guilty of using bait-and-switch tactics to lure customers.

The 12-week investigation found the dealerships advertised used cars that had already been sold. Five dealerships in Brooklyn were cited for false advertising, including Acura of Brooklyn, Plaza Toyota and Bay Ridge Honda.

Consumers are urged to contact Consumer Affairs before choosing a dealership to ensure they are legitimately licensed.
