Cop hurt in crash moved to rehab center

BROOKLYN - An NYPD officer who was critically injured while chasing suspected car thieves last month was moved today to a rehabilitation facility.

On May 16, Officer Carlos Olmedo was hit by a motorcycle while pursuing three suspects on foot in Bensonhurst. Olmedo, 31, was hospitalized in grave condition with head trauma and other injuries.

This morning, Olmedo's wife, children and dozens of his colleagues on the force cheered as he was released from Lutheran Medical Center.

Olmedo's wife says the officer will continue his recovery at a rehabilitation center.
