Cop starts jail time for drunken driving death

BROOKLYN - ? A former police officer who pleaded guilty to drunken driving when he struck and killed a woman last year started his jail time today.

Andrew Kelley was expected to receive 90 days in jail followed by five years probation from a judge. Due to a delay, the court proceedings did not continue. However, Kelley decided to begin his 90-day jail term today because he would be released on Christmas Eve.

Kelley will also lose his license for a year and complete an alcohol treatment program.

Kelley admitted to driving drunk when he struck and killed Vionique Valnord-Kassime last year in Mill Basin.
