Cops: BK jewelry store owner shot during robbery

GREENPOINT - Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a Greenpoint jewelry store today.

Police say they were called to Studio Jewelry on Nassau Avenue at around 1 p.m.

Authorities say the owner of the store, Richard Sanocki, was shot in the stomach by a robber, according to his son. He says his father was shot after an undisclosed amount of jewelry was stolen.

Sanocki was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.

Neighbors tell News 12 Brooklyn that they do remember an attempted robbery at this same jewelry store a few years back, but say it is generally a safe area.
