Cops: Day-care bribery ring busted in BK

(08/10/10) BROOKLYN - Police say they arrested several people in connection with a day-care bribery ring in Brooklyn.

Officials say the ring was paying off city officials to maintain permits for day care centers throughout the city. According to the criminal complaint, the alleged bribed officials are Department of Health and Mental Hygiene workers, Human Resources Administration workers and Administration for Children?s Services workers.

Police say the suspects were using day care centers to fraudulently obtain millions of dollars in public funds meant for children in need.
