Cops put brakes on 2 BK auto-shop fraud suspects

BROOKLYN - Police say two people have been arrested for fraud after allegedly damaging cars at a Borough Park auto shop to get bigger payouts from insurance companies.

Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes says auto-insurance company GEICO alerted his office about the alleged racket at Perfect Collision on 60th Street, prompting an investigation. He says a raid at owner Elie Berger's home then turned up $700,000 in cash.

Prosecutors say Berger faces 14 years behind bars if convicted. His alleged accomplice, Hershy Greenberger, faces up to seven years.
