Cops search for construction worker imposters in Greenpoint

GREENPOINT - Police are on the hunt for three men who they say posed as construction workers to steal cash from an elderly man in Greenpoint. According to investigators, the suspects convinced the 86-year-old to let them inside his Meserole Avenue home on April 6. They say one of the men allegedly directed the victim to the bathroom, where he claimed he needed to inspect a window. Authorities say the other two suspects burglarized the victim's home while he was distracted. They are urging residents approached by a suspicious worker to ask for company identification or call the company to confirm the visit. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
