BROOKLYN - A state corrections officer was arrested after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian in East Flatbush Tuesday morning.

Police say Damon Padmore was operating an SUV with a suspended license when he struck a 38-year-old woman at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and St. Mark's Place.

According to Padmore's mother, Joyce Padmore, her son was on his way to work at Sing Sing prison at the time of the crash. Padmore's mother and aunt say they are both ill and rely on him for care.

Authorities say charges against Padmore are pending.
