Councilman De Blasio's campaign questioned

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn Councilman Bill De Blasio caused a stir Friday with his new campaign ad.

De Blasio, who is running for New York City Public Advocate, is seen in new campaign ads with his interracial family. Some claim the campaign ads mailed to African-American neighborhoods included pictures of his mixed-race family, while those sent to predominantly white areas had no pictures.

In a statement to News 12, De Blasio says, "We have sent the mailings with my family to every part of the city, to every community, and I'm very proud of my family, and it's the essence of who I am."

City Councilman Charles Barron says the ads are a shame and an insult to the black community.
