CONEY ISLAND - Coney Island's boardwalk should become a city landmark, according to lawmakers and residents.

Councilman Mark Treyger is encouraging residents to post pictures of their favorite boardwalk memories to social media using the hashtag, "#LandmarkTheBoardwalk."

He says he has been supporting the idea since last year, but the city's Landmarks Committee initially rejected the move.

But now, Treyger says the committee will once again consider the proposal.
