BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn councilman has announced a possible motive behind an unsolved rape case in Greenpoint.

Councilman Stephen Levin says he heard reports that the suspect told the victim he was attacking her because she’s gay. The politician and other local leaders are still pleading with the public to come forward with any possible information.

According to investigators, a woman was sexually assaulted at knifepoint earlier this month.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video, and is described as being between 25 and 35 years old.
