Councilman: Tougher laws for illegal drivers

BROOKLYN - A councilmember is calling for stricter penalties and laws to keep illegal drivers off the road.

Councilman Larry Seabrook made the announcement less than two weeks after a Bronx woman was killed by a driver with a suspended license.

Sonya Gayle Powell, 42, was killed Nov. 27 as she crossed Baychester Avenue. The driver who struck Powell allegedly had four suspensions on his license.
