Crane falls onto building in Carroll Gardens

CARROLL GARDENS - A crane collapsed onto a Brownstone being remodeled in Carroll Gardens earlier today. The accident happened near the intersection of Douglass and Smith streets around noon. Neighbors say the crews were using a crane attached to a truck to lift materials onto the top floor of the building when it became top-heavy and tilted into the roof. "The truck went slowly down, or up, depending on how you look at it," witness Freddy Saint says. "And the guys jumped out of the truck." The residents were asked to evacuate the building as firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
