NEW YORK - (AP) - It's red, white and blue along Fifth Avenue.

Crowds of proud Puerto Ricans are wearing the colors of theisland nation's flag to mark the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The annual event is known for bringing out huge crowds as itmakes its way up Fifth Avenue with thousands of marchers, numerousfloats, celebrities and politicians taking part.

Singer Marc Anthony has been named as the king of the parade. Hetook on the role after actor Osvaldo Rios dropped out.

Rios had been named as the parade's international godfather butcritics called for a boycott because he has a domestic violenceconviction.
