Crown Heights shooting victim remembered at funeral

CROWN HEIGHTS - Friends and family came to the Faith Chapel Baptist Church Saturday afternoon to remember Denise Gay and celebrate her life.

Gay, 56, was killed the night of the West Indian Day Parade when she was hit by a stray bullet from a shootout between a suspect and a police officer. Among the funeral's attendees was Reverend Al Sharpton, who has been helping Gay's family.

Those at the funeral described Gay as a mother and friend to many, who was always willing to help everyone.
