BROOKLYN - Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) is fighting for federal aid after Hurricane Sandy in the nation's capitol.

The governor is asking lawmakers in Washington D.C. for about $42 billion for New York State, $32 billion of which would cover immediate costs.

Coumo says he wants to use close to $10 billion for preventative measures against another major storm.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg was in Washington last week where he requested $19 billion of the total for the city.
