BROOKLYN - Millions of Americans who rely on food stamps will see a change in benefits beginning today.

The Department of Agriculture says that a family of four will now receive $36 less a month in food stamps due to benefits being cut by $5 billion. The expiring money was a temporary benefit from the 2009 economic stimulus.

The Peoples Power Assembly movement is organizing a protest against the cuts. It will be taking place at 4:30 p.m. today at the Waverly Food Stamp Center on West 14th Street in Manhattan.
