BROOKLYN - The district attorney assembled a grand jury today to hear evidence in the death of a 4-year-old Brooklyn girl.

An investigation into the Administration for Children's Services was launched after Marchella Pierce was found dead in her Bed-Stuy home. The district attorney has also served subpoenas to ACS, the subcontractor hired to monitor the family and a hospital upstate.

Officials say the young girl was severely malnourished and may have been tied to a bed. Her mother has been charged with assault in the case.
