BROOKLYN - Parents and employees are ripping plans to close 16 day cares throughout the city due to budget cuts.

They say the day cares are an important low-cost option for working families with young children.

However, the Administration of Children?s Services says closing the day cares is necessary due to budget cuts. Additionally, it says some centers are not enrolling enough students to pay their high-cost leases.
