Day care workers rally to protest closures

BROOKLYN - Parents and day care employees marched across the Brooklyn Bridge today to protest a city plan to shutter 16 day care centers because of budget cuts.

The protesters, who gathered at Cadman Plaza, say cutting the low-cost day cares would be hard on their families.

However, the Administration of Children's Services says closing the day cares is necessary due to budget cuts. Additionally, it says some centers are not enrolling enough students to pay their high-cost leases.
