GREENPOINT - Designers of a floating pool that will be built in either the East or Hudson rivers have come up with a new way to raise money for their project.

The Plus Pool's developers describe it as a giant strainer that's dropped into the river and filters water into the pool. Once complete, the Olympic-sized pool will have sections for children and lap swimmers.

The developers initially used the fundraising website Kickstarter to raise more than $250,000, but they've found a new way to raise more money. People now have the opportunity to buy engraved tiles that will make up the walls and floor of the pool. The price of the tiles range from $25 to $249.

The Plus Pool is expected to open by the summer of 2016.
