Diner looks to serve struggling nonprofits

EAST NEW YORK - A popular East New York diner is helping to gather donations for two local nonprofit organizations.

Lindwood Diner, which is working together with the nonprofits, is allowing customers to put 5 percent of their bills toward helping the nonprofits.

"The customer feels like they're being acknowledged, it's for a local organization, we employ local employees, and we're just community-based so everyone is happy," says Thomas Urena, owner of Lindenwood Diner.
