(11/03/06) BENSONHURST &舑; According to a report in the New York Post, some Brooklyn students heading to school may have to trade in the yellow bus for public transportation.

The report states the Department of Education (DOE) will be changing yellow bus routes based on the number of families who registered for the service. However, critics say many students who haven&舗;t registered will be left out on the sidewalk. The DOE says students who didn&舗;t register will be given Metro Cards for public transportation.

Those against the changes say the registration process must be reworked. The new routes are expected to save the city about $20 million. DOE officials say students will have one more chance to register before the new year.
