Women throughout the borough are trying to impart a message of strength and empowerment this Mother's Day weekend.

Residents came together in Bedford-Stuyvesant to spread awareness of domestic violence in Brooklyn, and to celebrate mothers.

It was a day a pampering for the dozens who attended. They received manicures, new hair and make-up sessions, all provided by nonprofit organization...
