BROOKLYN - The Department of Transportation (DOT) is launching an investigation at the dangerous intersection of Shore Road and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

Many pedestrians that travel the road say they've had close calls as the vehicles speed up to get onto the expressway.

The DOT wants to use the investigation to see if the intersection meets federal guidelines for additional traffic controls.

Plans are already in motion to begin construction at 86th and Shore Road to make it safer to cross.
