Double shooting at Avenue I, East 16th Street kills Gerard Grant; leaves 1 other injured

BROOKLYN - One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Midwood Saturday morning.

Police say reports of a shooting at the corner of Avenue I and East 16th Street came in at around 4:30 a.m.

When EMS arrived at the scene, they declared one victim, 23-year-old Gerard Grant, of Carnarsie, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim, a 24-year-old male, was rushed to Kings County Hospital with one gunshot wound.

Police say the two victims were inside a car when they were shot.

Residents in the area say they heard four gunshots and thought it was a car accident at first.

The name of the second victim has not been released by police. No arrests have been made.
