BROOKLYN - Dozens of city leaders and Brooklyn residents joined together tonight for a memorial service on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

The group gathered at Borough Hall to remember the nearly 300,000 people killed and millions left homeless during the natural disaster.

A handful of Brooklyn residents were also honored for helping to provide aid in Haiti during the aftermath. Local Haitians said they were glad to have the opportunity to pay tribute to those people.
