BROOKLYN - A doctor is facing manslaughter charges after a liposuction patient of his died after surgery.

Isel Pineda, 51, went into cardiac arrest and died on May 10, 2012 after a liposuction procedure performed by Dr. Oleg Davie at his Manhattan Beach office. Investigators say Davie falsified records to hide his knowledge of Pineda's medical history.

Pineda previously had heart transplant surgery back in 2004 and was taking anti-rejection drugs that suppressed her immune system. The DA says Davie never contacted her cardiologist.

Investigators say this isn't the first time the state Health Department found that Davie was negligent with patients.

In addition to manslaughter, Davie faces charges of negligent homicide and falsifying business records.

If convicted, Davie could face up to 34 years in prison.
