BROWNSVILLE - A Brownsville woman took matters into her own hands Saturday in an effort to help children in her neighborhood succeed in life.

Tiffany James, founder of Excelling Heights, self-funded the Dream Big Vision Board event for teens ages 13 to 17.

Rather than have the teens say what their goals are, she asked them to cut out pictures or words that inspire them. She says having those images right there in front of them can help young people feel like their goals are more attainable.

The teens told News 12 that the event helped them begin thinking about what they want out of life.
