BROOKLYN - Police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a bicyclist in Bushwick, and then abandoned his car in the middle of the street.

Authorities say 46-year-old Angel Torres died after being hit at around 8 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway and Halsey Street.

Witnesses say that after striking Torres, the driver sped down another street going the wrong way and hit an SUV that was pulling out of a driveway. The people inside that car were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind his mangled BMW with its airbags deployed.

The community is hoping cameras near the accident can help cops track him down.
