BOROUGH PARK - A man faces driving while intoxicated charges after police say he plowed into people on Fort Hamilton Parkway Wednesday, severing a child's foot.

Witnesses say a white Lexus barreled down 65th Street and crashed into two cars around 8:18 a.m. They say it then struck three pedestrians who had the right of way at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 65th Street. Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jian Huang of Virginia. According to investigators, officers realized Huang was intoxicated after speaking to him at the scene.

Police say two boys, ages 11 and 13, were struck while walking to nearby McKinley Middle School. The boys, along with a 26-year-old woman who was also struck, were transported to Lutheran Hospital with serious injuries. Parents say the crash highlights the problem of unsafe streets near the school.
