Driver jumps curb, kills child walking to school in Flatbush

FLATBUSH - A walk to school turned deadly for a boy when a car jumped a sidewalk at Flatbush Avenue and Glenwood Road Wednesday.

Police say the SUV swerved onto the sidewalk where it killed 5-year-old Christopher Frombrum and struck two of his siblings along with his mother around 8 a.m. Witnesses say the driver caused the pedestrian accident when she tried to flee from a collision she had with another vehicle.

Police say the driver, 52-year-old Bertilde Gabriel, is charged with criminally negligent homicide.
