BROOKLYN - Residents rallied Thursday to protest Mayor Bill de Blasio's rezoning plan for East New York.
Dozens of protesters, who gathered at Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues, say de Blasio's plan doesn't guarantee enough affordable housing.
They say that ever since the mayor announced his plan, landlords have pressured them to pay higher rent or move out.
The proposal is headed to City Council for a vote in April, and the protesters called on local Councilman Rafael Espinal to ensure their demands are met.
The mayor says half of the more than 6,000 homes to be built over the next few years will be affordable, but protesters say that's not true.
