BROOKLYN - An elderly Brownsville couple has been living through the snow, ice and freezing temperatures this past week without any heat.

Carmen and Jerry Quamina say the landlord of their building agreed to include utilities in their rent, but hasn't followed through.

"We get no heat, no hot water, we cannot use the stove," said Jerry Quamina.

A family friend came by to meet with the landlord this week and says the hookup for the gas was removed. People have been stopping by with heaters and food to get the couple by during this difficult time.

When News 12 Brooklyn called, the landlord picked up and said the gas was expected to be restored on Friday. He could not give a timeline or explanation as to why it has not been on.
