BROOKLYN - The Empire Beauty School gave 30 autistic students a Makeover Day on Friday.

Several budding stylists from the beauty school donated their time to the Brooklyn School for Career Development and P.S. K721 to give the developmentally disabled students haircuts and makeup.

In addition to the stylists getting practice, the developmentally disabled students are getting an opportunity to practice socialization skills and a boost in confidence.

One official at the Brooklyn School for Career Development says the experience makes the children feel more like their peers, and contributes to their sense of self.
