The former NYPD officer charged in a DWI crash that killed a pastor's daughter was sentenced today. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Andrew Kelly struck and killed

BROOKLYN - The former NYPD officer charged in a DWI crash that killed a pastor's daughter was sentenced today. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Andrew Kelly struck and killed 32-year-old Vionique Valnord in Old Mill Basin last September. Kelly refused a sobriety test on the scene and when he received one seven hours later, it read zero.

Kelly later admitted he had been drinking and pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter. He also resigned from the police force.

In a plea deal, Kelly was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by five years probation.

The Valnord family says now that criminal proceedings are over, it is moving forward with a civil suit against Kelly and the NYPD.
