BROOKLYN - Assemblyman Dov Hikind is praising police officers at the 66th Precinct in Brooklyn for their help in recovering a stolen Torah worth $30,000.

The Torah was discovered inside a 2007 Toyota Corolla that had been reported stolen Saturday evening near a synagogue on 18th Avenue in Borough Park.

Hikind says the car was found abandoned on East 10th Street on Monday with the Torah still inside. He says a tip from an unidentified person led police to the car.

Hikind had earlier offered a $3,000 reward for any information leading to the return of the Torah.
