BROOKLYN - Driving experts are giving out information on what residents can do to stay safe on the roads this season.
Damien Ferrante, driving instructor at the Brooklyn Driving School, says drivers should double their distance from the car in front of them during icy conditions.
Ferrante says if you find yourself skidding on the ice, you should actually turn into the skid because you may be able to regain control. Some other simple rules include going a safe speed, making sure the air pressure in your tires doesn't exceed the recommended amount and staying indoors if the weather's too bad.
Icy roads may have played a part in a 30-car pileup on the Gowanus Expressway Tuesday night that left at least eight people injured.
