SAINT JOHN'S PLACE - Family and friends laid the 1-year-old victim of a fatal Weeksville fire to rest Friday.

Melanie Webb was killed June 7 when a fire broke out at her Atkins Avenue home. A neighbor, Tommy Campbell, rescued Webb's older siblings, but firefighters were unable to reach the baby girl in time.

Investigators said Webb's older sister set the fire by playing with a lighter while their mother was down the street.

The victim's mother, Althea Webb, was released by police after being charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
