BROOKLYN - Brighton Beach celebrated World War II veterans on Sunday.

Hundreds attended Family Day on Coney Island Avenue and Brighton Beach Avenue.

Organizers say the event is a celebration of family, community and veterans, since this year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the second World War.

Attendees enjoyed dancing and singing performances from schools in the neighborhood, plus shopping and food.

News 12 spoke with several veterans who say they were honored that their sacrifices are being remembered.
