BROOKLYN - The family of a Brownsville father who died suddenly after being visited by police is calling for an investigation into the ordeal.
They say Carlos Alcis was scared to death after a confrontation with police. The family has hired an attorney.
The NYPD says officers did go to Alcis' address Thursday morning in pursuit of a cellphone thief. According to police, officers knocked on the family’s door and questioned Alcis’ 15-year-old son. Police say the teen was shown to the victim, who did not identify him as the thief.
The family claims it was a police raid. Alcis collapsed and died after the interaction.
