BROWNSVILLE - The mother of a Brownsville man shot and killed last month says she's planning a peace rally in his memory.

Simeon Allen, 21, died after he was shot twice in the torso last month in front of the Brownsville Early Learning Center.

Allen's mother says they had recently moved to the Howard Houses after being displaced by Superstorm Sandy. She describes the gun violence in the neighborhood as out of control and wants her son to be remembered as a smart, hardworking person.

"We cannot accept that everything is settled with a gun," she says.
