BROOKLYN - A young Brooklyn resident is bringing history to life by dressing as different African-American historical figures.

Every week, professional photographer Mark Bushelle dresses his 5-year-old daughter Lilly up and does a series of photoshoots as different black female heroines.

Bushelle says it started off as a unique way to celebrate Black History Month.

Bushelle has dressed his daughter up as music icon Grace Jones, novelist Toni Morrison and the first African-American female pilot Bessie Coleman, just to name a few.

Now that the project has gained attention through social media and around the neighborhood, the father-daughter duo have decided to keep the photoshoots going for the foreseeable future.

Lilly's parents say they hope that one day she'll be able to look back on the photographic series as a source of inspiration for her own path to success.
