BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - A crash between a car and an MTA bus in Bedford-Stuyvesant injured 43 people this afternoon, according to first responders.

The crash occurred just after 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Herkimer Street and Albany Avenue.

Officials say two men in a Chevy Camaro were trying to evade police when they crashed into the B15 bus. They say he was being pursued because he had flashed a gun.

Crash victims were transported to Kings County Hospital and St. John's Hospital. One passenger on the bus is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses say the two men inside the crushed Camaro were briefly handcuffed after emergency responders cut open the car. They were then taken to a local hospital.

There was no official word on any arrests.

The crash occurred directly in front of Interfaith Medical Center, which has been slated for closure.
