FDNY to get advanced view of fires

BROOKLYN - The FDNY is partnering with a private security firm that operates CCTVs in buildings across Brooklyn, allowing it to get an advanced view of the danger firefighters may be stepping into.

SecureWatch 24, which was started by a former New York City police officer, operates the closed-circuit televisions on behalf of property owners and installs cameras in public areas such as elevators, hallways and lobbies.

The FDNY also expects the new technology to be a valuable resource in investigating suspected arsons.
