Feds: College students counted in school census

BROOKLYN - Parents should not include college students in their 2010 Census form unless they live at home full-time, the U.S. Census Bureau says.

College students living in on-campus or off-campus housing are counted with their respective schools, even if they return home on breaks. Some administrators may submit the numbers, while others require students to fill out forms.

The bureau says student data will affect tuition grants and loan programs. It also helps employers see where the next generation of workers is coming from, which could affect recruiting efforts.
