Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge gets new title to bid for businesses

BAY RIDGE - The City Council has designated part of Bay Ridge?s Fifth Avenue a Business Improvement District (BID) to allow the area to compete for customers.

Stores along Fifth Avenue from 65th to 86th street, which is near two other BIDs, now qualify for free trash and graffiti removal. The stores will also be decorated during peak shopping days.

Shop owners hope the designation will help bring businesses and shoppers back to Bay Ridge.
