GOWANUS - A prop shop in Gowanus is selling donated props to the public, giving the pieces a second chance.

At Film Biz Recycling, the shop sells donated props from films, TV shows, commercials and theater productions. All the items would normally have been thrown out, but founder Eva Radke opened the shop in 2008 to bring the items to people who need them.

The shop sells furniture and decor, but also unique items like old-fashioned telephones and zombie hands. The store also attracts production companies looking to get props for their own productions.

Radke says about 60 percent of the items purchased at the shop are given away to local charities.
