BROOKLYN - A fire that filled the halls of of Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment building prompted one resident to try to jump to safety.

Fire crews reported to the apartment at 247 Clifton Place just after 11 a.m. Saturday. One firefighter says the man broke through glass and leaped from a window in the bedroom of a second-floor unit.

The man is listed in serious condition at Kings County Hospital.

Two others in the apartment were able to safely escape using the fire escape.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
